The Cleveland High School Hall of Fame was initiated in 2024 by the CHS Athletic Director, Daniel Jurdy (aka “Jurdy”), to honor alumni, staff and coaches/advisors who had played inspirational roles at Cleveland or who had made important contributions in their fields following graduation.
Cleveland High School inducted four individuals into their CHS Sports Legends in 2024: C.J. Elleby (Boys Basketball, 2014-2018), Calvin Johnson (Boys Basketball Coach, 1977-2007), Cheryl Taplin (CHS Track, 1987-1990), and Stephanie Wheeler-Smith (CHS Girls Basketball Coach, 3 State Championships, 2008-2014).
The school will be introducing additional sports legends soon, with an official announcement coming in late May. We cannot share the information at this time, but it will be exciting!
It is an exciting time ahead for CHS alumni and CHS sports fans! The anticipation of new inductees into the Alumni Association Hall of Fame and Cleveland’s Sports Legends is generating a lot of excitement and speculation. If you’re looking forward to the announcement, it might be fun to discuss potential candidates for future consideration or share your favorite moments at CHS and the CHS sports history!
