CHS Alumni Association Hall of Fame Nomination Form

Background: The Cleveland High School Hall of Fame was initiated in 2024 by the CHS Athletic Director, Daniel Jurdy (aka “Jurdy”), to honor alumni, staff and coaches/advisors who had played inspirational roles at Cleveland or who had made important contributions in their fields following graduation.

Submission deadline is January 7th, 2025

The CHS Alumni Association welcomes nominations on an ongoing basis for the future Hall of Fame ceremonies. Criteria for nomination: 1. Must be a former student, staff member or coach/advisor. – This can include a team or group. 2. Students must have graduated Cleveland High School – Does not include staff or coach/advisors. – Exceptions can be made for students who left early for specific reasons. 3. Students must have graduated at least 10 years prior to nomination. 4. May be living or deceased. 5. Made a significant impact or provided outstanding contributions to their community, Cleveland High School, or Cleveland High School Alumni Association. *Indicates a required answer.

CHS HOF Nominations: Keep Them Coming!

We are thrilled to announce that we have received an overwhelming response to our call for alumni award nominations—with over 40 submissions already and more on the way! A special thanks to Alison W. Sing for his valuable feedback, which has led to several enhancements in our online submission process. Notably, for security and formatting issues, Word documents cannot accepted; PDF files, as well as photos and images in .jpg, .png, and .gif formats, are acceptable.

This journey of learning and improvement is just beginning, and we’re grateful for the momentum we’ve gained. As we continue our fact-finding efforts to support the school’s final approval process, we are committed to ensuring that every nomination is considered thoroughly and fairly.

The Selection Committee is set to convene in June to begin the meticulous review and selection process. We’re all eager to see the outcomes of their hard work and to celebrate the achievements of our distinguished alumni. The selected awardees will be announced this fall, and we promise to keep you updated every step of the way.

Remember, the next submission deadline is January 7th, 2025. Time flies, so don’t miss your chance to nominate someone whose contributions have truly made a difference.

CHS Hall of Fame – “Eagle Legends”

Daniel “Jurdy” Jurdy, Cleveland High School Athletic Director, recently approached the Alumni Association and the PTSA to start a Hall of Fame for Cleveland High School. We are one of the only Seattle high schools without a hall of fame. CHS is providing the wall in the school’s entrance to host our “Eagle Legends”.

The goal is to induct people each year who made a significant impact or provided outstanding contributions to their community, Cleveland High School, or Cleveland High School Alumni Association. This includes former students (alumnus) who have graduated at least 10 years previously, staff members, coaches, advisors, or volunteers. This can also include a team or group.

Nominations for this spring’s inductees are due by April 15th.

The Selections Committee will consist of five members for this year’s selection of Hall of Fame (two alumni, two PTSA members, and Jurdy).  Final approval will be provided by CHS Principal Jeff Lam. They will be selecting inductees from a variety of eras, starting when the school opened in 1927 until 2014 for CHS alumni, and up to 2024 for staff, coaches, advisors, and volunteers.

Submit your nominations by filling out the online application. Make sure to submit as much information as possible to help the Selections committee (biography, articles, and more). Click here to nominate someone.

In the future, nominations will be due by January 7th of each year to give the committee plenty of time to review the nominees. Nominations that are submitted and not selected will be put back into the pool for future consideration.  You can submit nominations year-round!
