Cleveland High School Volleyball Earns WIAA Academic State Championship Honors

2024 WIAA State Academic 2A Volleyball Champions - CHS

Cleveland High School’s volleyball team has made history!

The Eagles have been named 2024 WIAA Academic State Champions for 2A girls volleyball, recognizing their incredible achievement both in the classroom and on the court. This prestigious honor, awarded by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) as part of the Gesa Credit Union Scholastic Awards Program, highlights the team’s commitment to academic excellence while competing at the highest level.

What does this mean?

The Academic State Championship is awarded to the team with the highest cumulative GPA in the state for their division. Cleveland’s volleyball team soared above the competition, earning a remarkable 3.99 unweighted GPA, with a 4.1 weighted GPA!

This distinction makes them one of the first-ever teams at Seattle Public Schools to receive such recognition, alongside Lincoln High School’s 4A volleyball team.

A Historic Achievement

Balancing the demands of varsity athletics and rigorous coursework is no small feat. These scholar-athletes have demonstrated determination, discipline, and teamwork—not just on the court, but in the classroom as well. Their success is a testament to the dedication of Cleveland’s students, coaches, teachers, and the supportive community that helps them thrive.

To the Cleveland Eagles Volleyball Team—congratulations on this outstanding achievement! Your hard work and commitment to excellence continue to make Cleveland High School proud.

Go Eagles! 🦅
